Yulia Shvabauskene Held Talks with Philip de Jong, Chief Phytosanitary Officer of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Telephone talks between Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yulia Shvabauskene and Chief Phytosanitary Officer of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Philip de Jong were held on March 12. 

The dialogue was initiated by the Russian party due to detection of golden nematode in peony roots, imported to Russia from Dutch nursery M. Thoolen Flowerbulbs B.V. The pest is quarantine in Russia and EAEU countries. 

The goods were transported from Latvia, accompanied with the phytosanitary certificate, issued by the NPPO of this country. 

Yulia Shvabauskene noted that the Rosselkhoznadzor was deeply concerned over this situation and looked forward to obtaining of results of thorough investigation from the Netherlands’ Phytosanitary Service  related to the reasons of the pest introduction into the planting material. 

Philip de Jong requested the Russian Competent Authority to send the phytosanitary certificate, issued by the Latvian Service, shipping documentation and laboratory test reports to the Dutch party. 

The issues related to supplies of dahlia tubers, ornamental trees and open land vegetable crops from the Netherlands to Russia were also discussed. The Rosselkhoznadzor informed that it would inform the Dutch party about the import conditions for such types of goods in the near future.
