On March 12, the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Head of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service of the Republic of Chile Alicia Gallardo Lagno held videoconference negotiations.
It was noted that in accordance with the agreement reached during the meeting in Moscow between Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert and Alicia Gallardo Lagno, the Russian side will be sent information on the results of laboratory testing of fish of salmon family produced in Chile in recent years.
In addition, foreign colleagues reported that, according to the recommendations of the Russian agency, measures were taken to reduce the use of antibiotics in aquaculture production. It should be reminded that currently a number of Chilean companies are subject to temporary restrictions imposed by the Rosselkhoznadzor due to the detection of drug residues during monitoring laboratory control. The foreign agency conducted investigations in respect of these companies and will soon send information on their results to the Russian side.
The Chilean National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service also stressed that it had taken into account recommendations on the control of antibiotics before sending fish to processing plants.
Alicia Gallardo Lagno noted that in Chile, aquaculture companies that do not use antibiotics were issued special certificates confirming this. In 2019, 54 organizations received such certificates. Rosselkhoznadzor asked for information about the procedure of obtaining the certificates.
In addition, foreign colleagues promised to send information about the traceability system for fish products in Chile. This is necessary for the Rosselkhoznadzor to study the possibility of its integration with information platforms operating in Russia that provide traceability of products at all stages of their production.
It was also noted that the Chilean side was currently studying a memorandum on scientific cooperation with the Federal State Budgetary Institution “VGNKI” subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor.
The Parties thanked each other for the organization of the talks and agreed on the need to address the issues that were touched upon.
