Today, as it was previously reported, the negotiations between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Plant and Animal Health Protection Secretariat of Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil took place in Moscow on the eve of the meeting of the Russian-Brazilian Agriculture Committee.
The Russian authorities were represented by Advisor to the Head Artyom Daushev, and the Brazilian party was represented by Secretary for Animal Health and Plant Protection Jose Tolstadius Leal.
The officials of the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow were present at the meeting.
The main outcome of negotiations was signing the veterinary certificate for beef and beef product export from Russia to Brazil. Moreover, the Brazilian party informed about the decision to allow supplies from two fish processing establishments that had been previously inspected. Currently, only 13 companies are authorized for that.
However, despite the success achieved in trade between Russia and Brazil, the essential disparity is still present. In 2018 there were some insignificant fish product deliveries from Russia, whereas Brazil imported a considerable amount of different livestock products.
The parties agreed on the need of intensive work to reduce trade imbalance. In particular, the parties are going to initiate a separate Technical Conference for discussing issues to start poultry meat supply from Russia to Brazil.
In conclusion the Parties noted the constructiveness of negotiations and expressed their hope for enhanced cooperation between the authorities for managing important trade issues.
