FSVPS held phone talks with the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority

On June 19 phone talks were held between the FSVPS and the Plant Health Department of the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority.

During the discussion, representatives of the Service noted that a vehicle carrying asparagus seedlings from a Dutch nursery was detained at the checkpoint in the Kaliningrad Oblast. The reason for detention was the fact that the Dutch side issued an export certificate for seedlings but the FSVPS did not give any approval for this batch import to Russia.

Representatives of the Service explained the conditions under which exporters are able to export products to the territory of the Russian Federation. The Netherlands promised to revise the system of issuing phytosanitary certificates for products exported to Russia.

The FSVPS also reminded that since June 5, 2019, a ban was imposed on import of asparagus seedlings from two nurseries in the Kingdom of the Netherlands because of detecting quarantine pests for the EEU member countries - Tobacco ringspot nepovirus. The Netherlands side informed the Service that they are currently investigating this situation.

Negotiators thanked each other for their time and expressed hope for continued cooperation.
