On December 19 2018, the delegation of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Iraq visited the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinate FGBI “All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center” (FGBI “VNIIKR”) within the framework of the visit to the Russian Federation aimed at discussing issues related to bilateral cooperation in agriculture, as well as at getting familiar with the systems for ensuring the safety and quality of grain and grain products.
The specialists of the Rosselkhoznadzor subordinated FGBI “Grain Quality Assessment Center” attended the meeting.
Director of the FGBI “VNIIKR” Alexander Sapozhnikov made the Iraqi guests familiar with the main areas of the institute’s activity within the framework of Rosselkhoznadzor’s work in the field of plant quarantine and the assurance of plant disease freedom of the Russian Federation, as well as of strict compliance with the importing countries’ requirements when exporting Russian plant products.
The Iraqi party asked the specialists of the institute for assistance in resolving the issue of storing grain in outdoor grain elevators.
In the course of the talks, the parties discussed grain fumigation methods and preparations used in Russia, as well as the standards followed by the Russian Federation for grain treatment and grain quality control.
After the talks, the representatives of the Ministry of Trade of Iraq went to the FGBI “VNIIKR” Testing Laboratory Center where they commended the institute’s high-level facilities and expert competence.
All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center is a scientific and methodical as well practical center of the Rosselkhoznadzor in the field of plant quarantine. It is a regular participant of international processes; its specialists are the members of leading international plant quarantine and protection organizations; the results of the tests conducted at the FGBI “VNIIKR” Testing Laboratory Center hold the status of generally acknowledged arbitral expert opinions.
The researchers of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center develop scientific and methodical recommendations that take into account, inter alia, the international requirements for quarantinable products, thus providing the opportunity to ensure the high level of agricultural product exports.
