On July 13, 2017 consultation session of the FGBI Federal
Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain Products and Iraqi
Grain Board headed by Ali Al-Kahli, Deputy Commercial Attache of the Iraqi
Embassy, were held in the Iraqi Embassy.
During the consultation session the parties discussed the
possibility to harmonize approaches of the Russian Federation and Republic of
Iraq to the methods used for examination of wheat and other crops not only for
their quality and safety but also for the aspects of plant quarantine in order
to establish cooperation and mutual supplies between the countries.
The parties also discussed in detail the difference in the
systems used by the national control authorities to ensure product quality and
safety. The parties paid specific attention to the Iraqi requirements to MAL of
smut spores in wheat.
Following the consultation session it was decided that
experts of the FGBI Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain
and Grain Products should visit testing laboratories in Iraq. In this respect
the representatives of the Iraqi party announced their intention to send an
official letter to the Iraqi Ministry of Trade and ask for the possibility to
organize the visit of the Russian delegation to the Republic of Iraq.
