Meeting between Sergey Dankvert and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Guatemala in Russia Mrs. Godinez Saso
The meeting was held in Moscow at the initiative of the Guatemalan
side. Mrs. Daria Kopylova, Attaché of
the Central America Unit in the the Department of Latin America of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, took part in the meeting as well. Mrs. Godinez Saso
expressed gratitude to Sergey Dankvert for the arranging the meeting and also
noted that Mr. Dankvert’s report at the St. Petersburg International Economic
Forum caught her attention. The report covered the issues of cooperation
between Russia and the Republic Guatemala.
Ambassador expressed interest of Guatemala in increasing
exports of plant products to Russia. Exports of such products as papayas,
mangoes, bananas, pineapples and coffee are of particular interest.
Sergey Dankvert remarked that the Rosselkhoznadzor should had
not any specific problems about exports of plant products. Alongside with it,
the Guatemalan side should carefully work at logistics and should make efforts
to find Russian business operators keen to import such products from Guatemala.
The Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor directed attention of the colleagues to
«Prodexpo» exhibition held in Russia, which can be a great opportunity for the
Guatemalan side to present itself. No doubt, that will be a starting point in
search of new partners.
During the negotiations the sides touched upon supplies of
meat and marine products to Russia. It was noted that marine products are more
competitive at the Russian market. It was pointed out that, in order to be
approved for exports of animal products to the Russian Federation the
Guatemalan side would have to complete the questionnaire provided by the
Rosselkhoznadzor in April, 2017. Ambassador assured the Rosselkhoznadzor that
she would make the issue her personal priority.
