Results of Negotiations between Rosselkhoznadzor Representatives and Experts of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, Hong Kong

On April 28, 2017 the Rosselkhoznadzor representatives held a working meeting with the experts of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong SAR).

The parties discussed a number of key issues related to the Russian meat product access to the Hong Kong market. The Rosselkhoznadzor officials submitted all necessary documents and data on the assessment of the system used for safety surveillance and control during beef, pork and poultry meat production for their revision by the Hong Kong party.

The Hong Kong party further submitted regulatory documents on the requirements applied for meat product importation in Hong Kong.

The parties discussed in detail the procedure for poultry product access to the market. Representatives of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of Hong Kong SAR gave a promise to review the submitted data asap in order to take a decision on the Russian poultry meat admittance to the Hong Kong market and on possible application of AI regionalization.

The Hong Kong counterparts also mentioned that no veterinary certification is required in case of ready-to-eat meat product importation.

Draft veterinary certificate for exported beef was discussed during the negotiations. It is scheduled to be initialed during the 65th General Session of the OIE in Paris in the end of May this year. Inspection of the Russian beef producing plants by the Hong Kong inspectors was also prearranged for the second half of 2017.
