H1N1 Influenza Outbreaks in Three Australian Farms

During the talks held in Moscow between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) the Australian delegation handed the letter of the Head of the National Veterinary Service Andy Carroll to Nikolay Vlasov, Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Chief Veterinary Officer. The letter informed about H1N1 influenza outbreaks in three Australian pig-breeding plants. It was also underlined that pork from these plants had not been imported into Russia. Andy Carroll assured Nikolay Vlasov that The Australian National Veterinary Service had taken all the necessary measures to stop spreading of H1N1 influenza to other Australian pig-breeding farms. Quarantine had been introduced in the affected plants. The official investigation of the Australian Veterinary Service had showed that infected people serving the swine population had been the most probable source of infection of animals with H1N1 influenza virus.
