The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia informed the Rosselkhoznadzor that it had already studied all the materials provided by the Rosselkhoznadzor in order to acknowledge competence of the Russian testing laboratories (Centers) that confirm compliance of grain with quality and safety standards.
The Indonesian side has so far recognized competence of the following institutions: the Novorossiysk and Rostov branches of the FGBI “Centre for Grain Quality Assessment”, testing laboratory on Products Safety and Quality in Rameskoye FGBI “Centre for Grain Quality Assessment”.
Last August the Indonesia Agricultural Quarantine Agency in the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture sent a letter to the Russian side with the information on amendments put into the procedure of providing access for plant products to the Indonesian market (entered into force since the 17th of February, 2016). Pursuant to the newly adopted procedure, countries are approved to export the abovementioned products only if their laboratories are recognized competent by the Indonesian services.
The acknowledgment was preceded by hard and meticulous work of the Rosselkhoznadzor, when it had to prepare a set of documents in compliance with the Indonesian requirements and also by a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations involving Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Trade Representation of Russian to Indonesia.
Taking into account Russia’s potential for increasing grain exports to Indonesia, the acknowledgement of the Russian laboratories will facilitate further development and improvement of the Russian-Indonesian trade and economic cooperation.
